Types of Penile Implants

The Semi-Rigid Penile Implant

Semi-Rigid Penile Implant

A semi-rigid penile implant does not have inflatable components or a pump, but rather bends up and down. Semi-rigid penile implants are less commonly utilized than inflatable penile prostheses. The two semi-rigid rods are always firm.  This prosthesis is used by bending the penis away from the body to create an erection and then bent toward the body to conceal the device.

Semi-rigid penile implants are easier to use than inflatable devices; however, the erection can be slightly less rigid or natural compared to the inflatable implants. The semi-rigid implant can also be more difficult to conceal, but does have less risk of mechanical failure.
